minimum number of credits needed to fulfill the
degree requirements is 30.
The curriculum consists of three parts : (1) core
and required courses, (2) electives, and (3) an MSc project
(optional).

granted by course instructors, students must take
the above four core courses.
Electives Courses (15
credits)
Students can register in any postgraduate courses
offered by the Department of Economics, except
ECON5030, ECON5110 and ECON5200.

Subject to the approval of the MSc Program Director,
students may take up to 2 economics related
postgraduate courses (of no more than 6 credits)
offered by other departments in the School of
Business and Management, the School of Science, or
the Division of Social Science. Students may
also take up to 2 economics elective courses at the
4000-level of no more than 8 credits.
MSc Project (optional; 6 credits)
This is an independent/group project carried out under the supervision of
a faculty member in the Department of Economics.
The final project report will be read by two faculty members, one
of who is the supervisor.
