MOOC on FinTech - Among the First in the Asia Pacific Region

In its ongoing efforts to promote Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC) and FinTech, the HKUST Business School has launched one of the first MOOC courses on FinTech in the Asia Pacific Region. The course (FinTech Foundations and Overview) gives learners worldwide an opportunity to take classes provided by HKUST faculty and practitioners and makes learning more personalized and flexible for anyone who is eager to know more about FinTech.

The course is taught by Professor Theodore Clark from the Department Information Systems, Business Statistics and Operations Management of the School. It aims to help learners to understand FinTech and become more confident and persuasive in their ability to analyze and make recommendations to executives within the finance industry regarding how to react to these changes.

This course offers the combined strengths of HKUST in Business, Finance, and Technology as we are one of the world’s leading academic institutions in the important areas of technology and business innovation. It not only presents the views of professors from the School, but also perspectives from industry professionals.

For students from outside Asia, the course also gives an insight into changes happening in one of the most advanced FinTech markets of the world. The newly launched course (FinTech Foundations and Overview) is part 1 of the HKUST FinTech specialization, and there will be three other courses in the specialization including FinTech Security & Regulation (RegTech), FinTech Compliance & Assurance, FinTech Innovative Disruption: Implications for Society. The FinTech specialization will be launched in Fall 2018, stay tuned!

The course has seven hours of videos, plus a final project requiring about six hours, to complete. To know more about the course, or enroll now, at: https://www.coursera.org/learn/fintech
