Franklin Fund for Business Competitions

The School of Business and Management at HKUST (HKUST Business School) is very pleased to receive a generous donation from Professor Laurence C Franklin, a long-standing supporter of HKUST, for the gracious gift to encourage students to participate in overseas business competitions.

The Franklin Fund for Business Competitions is established to provide funding support for both undergraduate and graduate students at the Business School to engage in business case, business plan, and entrepreneurship competitions outside of Hong Kong.

As an adjunct professor at HKUST since academic year 1998/99, Professor Franklin said he enjoys teaching at HKUST, and that the newly established fund is a gift to give back to the University and marks his 20 years of service.

An agreement was signed by Professor Franklin and Professor Tam Kar Yan, Dean of HKUST Business School, on 6 August 2018, attended by the University’s Vice-President for Institutional Advancement Dr Sabrina Lin, and the School’s Associate Dean Professor Steven Dekrey, WBB Program Director Professor Stephen Nason, and Executive Director (School Development & MSc Programs) Mr Chris Tsang.

Dean Professor Tam expressed his gratitude to Professor Franklin’s generosity and also his continued support to the School after the Franklin Prize for Teaching Excellence established in 2000.

Also with donations from Professor Franklin, the Franklin Prize recognizes business faculty contributions every year in the form of teaching excellence.
