The School Welcomed 900 New UG Students

Nearly 900 new undergraduate students celebrated the start of the new academic year with over 100 peer mentors and senior students from the Business Cohort Community (BCC) on 30 August 2017.

The “Welcome and Orientation” was kicked off by Dean Prof Tam Kar Yan, as well as Prof Anirban Mukhopadhyay (Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies) and Prof Emily Nason (Associate Dean for Undergraduate Student Affairs). Mass games and group dances were led by the BCC, while two student groups, Tunatics Acappella @HKUST and the Dance Society, performed Acapella and dances on stage.

The orientation day continued with the Peer Mentoring Program where freshmen and their peer mentors met for the first time. New students broke out into small groups and learned about various academic and co-curricular opportunities available at the School. We hope all the new students will have a wonderful journey in HKUST!
