[eNews] Executive Programs for HKSAR Government Officers

The Management Development Program (MDP), offered by the Executive Education Office, has reached a milestone by training more than 1,100 officers from 31 HKSAR government departments and related organizations since its launch in 2000.

This flagship program offers tailor-made sessions to address the needs of officers in middle to senior management and is taught by HKUST’s faculty members. The 28th and 29th classes were held between September 2017 and January 2018 with a total 76 government officers from 17 departments/organizations attending. Each class completed a nine-day program that covered “Team Building and Problem Solving” by external consultants, “Managerial Decision Making” by Prof Caroline Wang from the Department of Management, “Leadership and Change Management” by Prof Jean Vanhoegaerden from Ashridge Executive Education at Hult International Business School, “Crisis and Stress Management” by Prof Hilton Chan from the Department of ISOM, and “Negotiation” by Prof Stephen Nason from Department of Management.

A celebration dinner officiated by Prof Tam Kar Yan, Dean of the School, was held on campus for the participants on 2 February.  14 directorates and senior officers from 12 government departments and organizations joined the event and presented certificates to their colleagues who have successfully completed the program.

The 30th and 31st classes will be scheduled in September and October respectively.
