[eNews] New Open Program on Customer Relationship Management

To help executives and companies build long term customer relationships and improve customer satisfaction, the Executive Education Office offered a new 2-day open program on “Driving Business Performance through CRM” in early July.

Taught by Professor Joseph Salvacruz, this new program aims to help executives improve business relationships with customers, with a focus on customer retention and driving sales growth. Professor Coral Puig Garrigo was also invited to share her industry experience with participants, and they are seasoned executives and decision makers from diverse functions, industries and locations.

Pei Hua Management Program for Middle & Senior Government Officers

The 89th Management Program for Senior Government Officers was jointly organized by the Executive Education Office and Hong Kong Pei Hua Education Foundation (a non-profit organization), with 40 middle and senior government officers from Chongqing, China, joining the program.

The group came to Hong Kong for this two-week program (9-20 July) which included lectures and company visits. The program aimed to provide participants with an overview on economic, social and human resources development and also business management.

This program was led by HKUST faculty across different departments and practitioners, including Professor Xu Yan and Professor Zheng Rong from Department of Information Systems, Business Statistics and Operations Management; Professor Francis Lui from Department of Economics; Professor Wang Wenbo from Department of Marketing; Professor Gong Yaping from Department of Management; and Mr John Lee, former insurance practitioner and Dr James Wong, Vice Chairman of Greater China Legal Affairs Committee of the Law Society of Hong Kong.

Talk for Bank of China (Hong Kong)

With the expansion of business in the ASEAN region, Bank of China (Hong Kong) is transforming into an internationalized regional bank and became a matrix management organization. In July, the Executive Education Office invited Professor Luc Henrard to share his experience in managing matrix organization with BOCHK executives from different locations, including Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia, and Myanmar. The theme of the talk was “Regional Management Strategy and Experience Sharing of Different Regional Reorganizations”.

Professor Henrard is the Chief Risk Officer of BNP Paribas in Luxembourg and a member of the Executive Committee of BGL NP Paribas. In the talk, he introduced different models of matrix organizations and the pros and cons of each model. He concluded with some practical tips on different aspects including control, compensation, communication, etc.
