[eNews] GNAM MIM Global Week 2018 at HKUST

The Global Network for Advanced Management (GNAM) MIM (Master in Management) Global Network Week was held at HKUST between 11 and 15 June. The MIM Global Network Week is an international exchange program for MSc students among GNAM network.

The MIM Global Network Week provides students the opportunity to pursue intensive study (one week) in a focused course at other member schools. This year, HKUST Business School hosted students from IE Business School, UCD Smurfit School, EGADE Business School together with its own MSc current students and alumni, with a theme on “Doing Business with China: The Belt and Road Initiative”.

The topic provided in-depth knowledge about the roles of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and the rise of local China businesses such as the big stated-owned and privately-owned, financial and technological companies. The roles of HKSAR to be the leading international financial and professional service hub for the ‘Belt and Road Initiative’ region have also been discussed.

To further explore how do the Hong Kong companies grab the new opportunities provided by the ‘Belt and Road’ initiative, students visited one of the key stakeholders – MTR. They listened to guest lectures by representatives from AP Rentals and HKQAA, and also got the chance to study the ‘Belt and Road’ initiative from other angles by touring Cyberport and EcoPark.
