[eNews] FinTech Research Awarded Funding from RGC’s Theme-Based Research Scheme

A FinTech research project led by the School has become one of the five important studies in Hong Kong to be funded by the latest round of the Research Grants Council’s (RGC) Theme-based Research Scheme.

The FinTech Project Team consists of experts in finance, computer science, information systems, statistics, economics, accounting, and policy from HKUST and other local universities. The team will look into different ways to strengthen Hong Kong as an international financial center and contribute to the development of the city into a global FinTech hub.

Dean of HKUST Business School, Professor Tam Kar Yan, who is also the project leader, was interviewed by local dailies including Ming Pao, Ta Kung Pao and Hong Kong Economic Times (also reposted by other news portal and industry portal). He introduced the aims of the RGC-funded project to the media and commented on FinTech developments in Hong Kong as well as the skills that our students will need in future.
