Over 60 participants from around the world got together in the Business School Central for the APEC Project DARE (Data Analytics Raising Employment) 2018 Workshop.

Co-organized by the Asia Pacific Economic Corporation (APEC), the Wiley Business-Higher Education Forum (BHEF) and the Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU), the two-day workshop provided a collaborative platform for business, academia and governments from 16 different economies to discuss human capital development in data science and analytics, and how they could work closely together to prepare the future workforce.

The workshop was kicked off with welcome remarks made by Mr Christopher WATSON, Senior Advisor for APEC Affairs, International Labor Affairs Bureau, US Department of Labor and Project Overseer for Project DARE; Ms Marjorie YANG, Chairman of Esquel Group, APEC Business Advisory Council HKC Member, who is also HKUST Court Member; and Dean of HKUST Prof TAM Kar-Yan.

Featuring three panels and a number of cases, the workshop discussed how employers, academia, and governments can work together in the technology-driven economy, with a view to supporting the sustainable growth of the world.
