[eNews] Policy Recommendation at the Global Industrial Organization Roundtable

Prof XU Yan, Associate Dean of the School, was invited to join the Global Industrial Organization (GIO) roundtable during the Mobile World Congress 2019 (MWC19) held in Barcelona from February 25-28.

MWC is the largest event in the telecommunications sector and attracts more than 100,000 participants every year. The GIO aims to build up an architecture among vertical industries in the process of digital transformation, so as to smooth the applications of AI, IoT, etc. This year, the GIO roundtable reached the Digital Architecture White Paper & Cooperation Plan which has built up a foundation for further cooperation among 21 industrial organizations (including 3GPP, ETSI, TM Forum, The Open Group, CCSA, 5GAA, IIC, 5G-ACIA).

Prof XU Yan attended the event on behalf of the International Telecommunications Society (ITS) which is one of the member organizations of GIO. Prof XU is currently a board member of ITS. He contributed to the discussion from a policy and regulatory perspective, urging that the architecture should minimize the entry and exit barriers for market players so the market will not be dominated by a few giant players.
