[eNews] MSc in Investment Management Ranked No.1 in the Asia-Pacific

The HKUST MSc in Investment Management (MScIM) Program has been recognized as the No.1 Master of Finance Program in the Asia-Pacific region by the QS World University Rankings. Our Program has claimed the top spot in the region (top 30 globally) for two consecutive years.

The QS World University Rankings are announced annually, covering over 1000 universities globally. The QS rankings consist of different categories such as subject areas, graduate employability index, locations and many others. The ranking for Master of Finance Program is under the category of QS ranking by subjects, with the result  shown here:

Offered by the Department of Finance, the MScIM Program was first launched with the part-time mode in 1996 (now with the full-time mode). Since then it has evolved into two separate programs, with the addition of the MSc in Financial Analysis (MScFA) in the part-time mode since 2002. To focus on more specialized areas, students can opt for concentration(s) in Asset Management, Risk Management, and/or the newly added FinTech in the MScIM Program, and concentration(s) in Corporate Finance and/or Security Analysis in the MScFA Program.

To meet the emerging needs of various finance professions, the MScIM and MScFA Programs constantly enhance existing courses and add new courses. In 2018, to respond to the growing influx of information technology and analytics in financial services, two new core courses and some new FinTech courses were added into its curriculum. The new FinTech concentration was also added to the diverse portfolio of the MScIM Program.
