[eNews] Management Professor Shines in Common Core Teaching Excellence Award

Prof Carman NG from the Department of Management has been presented with the “Honorary Mention” in this year’s Common Core Teaching Excellence Award.

In her award-winning course “Traps and Pitfalls in Judgment and Decision Making”, Prof Ng combined the latest research findings with resourceful experiential learning and ably conveyed fresh insights on decision making and biases to students from diverse disciplines.

Prof Ng also designed in-class experiments derived from academic research to provide students with first-hand experience of bias, despite their efforts to make a rational judgment. These activities ensured participation and interest, and generated keener, stronger motivation to find out more.

Her efforts have brought praise from participants, who laud the course as “a chance to learn something practical in an engaging environment” and for “making good connections between theories and applications in the real world”.

Faculty and staff of the Department of Management receive the award on behalf of Professor Carman Ng.
