Dean of HKUST Business School Prof. TAM Kar Yan attended the APEC Closing the Digital Skills Gap Forum on July 19. As technology continues to evolve, it is becoming more important to assure that people have the training and experience to keep up with the changing frontier. This forum held in Singapore brought together experts from 16 APEC economies to discuss policy options and initiatives such as Project DARE that can help improve digital skills and economy.

Project DARE (Data Analytics and Raising Employment Initiative) is a framework implemented by eight universities, companies, and associations, including HKUST.  “With the imminent need to facilitate the transition of workforce in the age of disruption, Project DARE provides a tripartite platform for governments, academia and business across the APEC economies to discuss human capital development in data science and analytics,” said Prof. Tam.

Through the forum in Singapore, our School was unable to exchange with 70+ government and industry representatives in the region and discussed different solutions in addressing the surging demand for data science professionals and others.
