[eNews] Global Business Program Students Travel to Spain

In January 2020, a group of students from the Global Business Program travelled to Spain for a two-week study trip.

The first part of their trip started in Barcelona. Students visited the IESE Business School and ESADE Business School for lectures on a case analysis class, career development and entrepreneurship, and design thinking. Aside from immersing in Barcelona’s cultural hotspots, students visited Amazon to learn about quality control efficiency in its production lines and through the Kaizen Productivity Philosophy. They also visited fashion retailer Mango to see how their effective warehouse packaging process benefited from modern logistics processes while maintaining the company’s core CSR values.

In the second part of their trip, students travelled to Madrid to visit the IE Business School for a lecture related to Brexit and international trade. They also attended a class on "Social Entrepreneurship at the Base of the Pyramid: Business Solutions for the World's Poorest" to explore how businesses can help create an impact for their respective communities. What’s more, students also visited fine art and cultural institutions and sampled the best Spanish cuisine at the Mercado de San Miguel.

The study trip completed with success as students participated in lectures that inspired them to think from different perspectives, reflect on their career paths and make use of their creativity and innovative thinking to create a better world.
