[eNews] Fintech Talent Development, Competency, and Manpower Study Online Sharing

Following the release of the report on the fintech talent development, competency and manpower study in June, the HKUST Business School continues its work in preparing students for a successful fintech career.

On July 9, the Fintech Research Project hosted an online sharing titled The Fintech Core Competencies: What Are Employers Looking for? and attracted the participation of over 150 students and young alumni.  A talk by Ms Christy YEUNG, Senior Manager of the Fintech Research Project, focused on the crucial skills and behavioral competencies to succeed in the fintech industry in Hong Kong. The talk also shared key findings, observations, and relevant skills from the report forstudents to succeed in fintech.

The talk received overwhelming responses from participants of different disciplines and they demonstrated great interest in fintech career opportunities. An interactive discussion also took place and explored the unique advantages and job opportunities for students and alumni coming from business, engineering, and other disciplines to enter the industry. Participants were encouraged to acquire and hone useful skills, such as design thinking and data analytics, to increase their competitiveness in the field.
