Employee Creativity Paper Selected as Finalist for the Responsible Research in Management Award

An Academy of Management (AMJ) paper “Human Resource Systems, Employee Creativity, and Firm Innovation: The Moderating Role of Firm Ownership” has been selected as one of the finalists for the Responsible Research in Management Award.

The award recognizes and discovers good management papers published in the past five years.  The papers must focus on important issues for business and society and include rigorous research methods and credible results. Unlike other academic awards, this award selection committee includes not only scholars, but also executives.

Co-authored by IU Dong, GONG Yaping (Head of Department of Management at HKUST), ZHOU Jing and HUANG Jia-Chi, the study looks at how employees’ experience HR systems – the maintenance-oriented system that provides job security and the protection of equal rights, and the performance-oriented system that focuses more on developing job relevant knowledge and how skills  influence creativity.
