Finance deals with
individual and corporate decisions on the allocation of financial
resources. Three major areas in Finance are Corporate Finance,
Investment and Portfolio Management, as well as Financial Markets
and Institutions. Corporate Finance analyses the investment and
financing decisions of firms, including mergers and acquisitions.
Investment and Portfolio Management deals with the problems of asset
pricing, portfolio design and risk management by individuals and
investment firms, such as unit trusts. Financial Markets and
Institutions present the unifying framework and environment in which
financial activities take place. In addition to the above, courses
are offered in international financial management, speculative
markets, and other topics of interest to the Asia-Pacific region.
The BBA degree in Finance suitably equips a student for the pursuit
of careers in banking, financial analysis and investment.
Business organizations need people who have training
in finance. Hong Kong is a major financial center in Asia and
provides ample job opportunities for students graduating as finance
majors. Graduates in finance normally take up jobs with commercial
banks, investment banking houses, insurance firms, accounting firms,
management consulting firms, government agencies, and large and
small corporations

Requirements for students opting for second major
in Finance
-
Requirements for Graduation same as that of the
first major.
-
Registration priority in courses is given to the
first major students. However, if courses still have quota, then 2nd majors will have priority from the waiting list.

Declaring Double Major in Year 3
-
Second major programs will not be shown in the transcript unless necessary forms have been filled out in year 3.
-
If you did not declare finance double major at the end of year
one, then you can do so in the third year provided you have fulfilled the requirements.
-
However, you do not have priority in course registration, so meeting the requirements
may be difficult.

Transferring to Finance Major (program transfer)
Minimum requirements to be considered for a
program transfer include (i) a CGA of B and (ii) a B in FINA221. Meeting
these criteria, however, would not automatically qualify you for a
