Graduate
Programs
To meet the increasing demand for
managerial level IS professionals in the service-oriented market,
our Department launched an MSc in Information Systems Management
program in 1997. The aim of the program is to prepare professionals
for career advancement in the field of information systems. Our
program combines fundamental technical knowledge courses with
insightful management courses to keep our students abreast of the
latest developments in the business world. The program targets
managers without a technical degree who wish to learn the IT
language and knowledge requisites for communication with IT
professionals and also to advance to leadership positions. Starting
from 1998, a dual degree program consisting of an MScISM and an MBA
was introduced so that students can enjoy both general business
training and a more focused management education.
In addition, the Department also admits
PhD students to undertake research in a wide range of areas. The
programs have a global perspective and a local focus on the
Asia-Pacific region. Graduates of the programs have had a high
success rate in filling tenured-track academic positions in major
universities in the US and in Asia, reflecting the quality of both
our programs and graduates.
To tailor for different business needs,
a series of executive education programs in the IS and OM areas are
offered through the School’s Executive Education Office. The
programs aim at providing a comprehensive overview of managerial as
well as technical issues related to the disciplines. Programs
include an Executive Diploma in e-Commerce, E-Commerce Essence for
Managers, E-Commerce Technology for Non-Technical Managers, IS
Outsourcing Benefits, Risks, Opportunities and Challenges, IT
Applications and Management for Healthcare Managers and
Professionals, M-Commerce and Telecommunications and Value Chain
Transformation, etc.
