BBA(IS) Curriculum - ISACA® Model Curriculum Alignment

The BBA in Information Systems (IS) program nurtures students to become enterprising individuals who are able to integrate IT knowledge to provide innovative business solutions for modern corporations. Continuous program innovation ensures that new courses are introduced to keep in pace with industry trends.

In the academic year 2005/2006, our department first introduced a new course - Information Systems Auditing - one of the fastest growing professional service functions globally today. Students can make use of their information systems knowledge gained from various IS courses to provide professional auditing/consulting services.

Apart from the continuous course development, we understand that aligning the study program with the requirements set by the professional bodies can definitely benefit our students and graduates in terms of competency and job hunting (e.g. Accounting - CPA, Finance - CFA). As the IS audit and control profession continues to evolve, CISA certification becomes important for the practitioners in the field. Its relevant education framework - ISACA Model Curriculum for Information Systems Audit and Control can be viewed as a reasonably comprehensive set of topics for an ideal program for IS audit and control which suits our BBA(IS) students.

"As of 10 January 2007, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) BBA(IS) curriculum as submitted to ISACA was found to be in alignment with the ISACA® Model Curriculum. Graduates of this program qualify for 3-4 years work experience toward the Certified Information Systems Auditor™ (CISA®) designation."
