Exchange

The overseas exchange program provides RMBI students valuable opportunity to build students' cross-cultural understanding and widen networks, Through studying at leading oversea universities, students enrich their global outlook and expand their vision, interpersonal skills, creativity and cultural awareness.

Academics, research experts and industrial professionals are invited to deliver talks and workshops related to areas of RM and BI and interact with RMBI students so as to facilitate the students to acquire and industry-related RMBI knowledge and foster their soft skills learnt from different perspectives. Mentorship

A mentor can be a valuable source of advice and an insightful guide to the business world, a potential contact for the future and a personal friend. This is a great chance to establish one-on-one links with industry executives.

The mentorship scheme invites directors, CEOs and senior managers of well-established organizations in areas of Banking, Finance and Investment, Accounting and Auditing, Insurance, Logistics Management, Information Technology, Public Authorities, Healthcare, etc., to serve as mentors to RMBI students. The scheme helps students to bridge the gap between academic theory and business practice through discussion, guidance and insights into problem solving, innovative thinking, management and leadership issues. It can also establish an invaluable bond which brings long-term knowledge-sharing and friendship between mentors and mentees.

Apart from inviting industrial professionals, RMBI program launched the Peer Mentorship program and Alumni Mentorship program in the year of 2017 and 2020 respectively.

Peer Mentorship

It serves to provide non-academic support and advice to all new students admitted under both program-based admission and school-based admission schemes. Our peer mentors are the RMBI senior students (Year 3 and Year 4) who volunteer their time to help RMBI new students, they will work as a team with RMBI program to help new students settle into HKUST. We hope to build strong bonding between the senior and junior RMBI students, and establish a close-tied, ever-growing RMBI community.

Objectives

  • Facilitate freshmen to adapt to university life and study by peer support network
  • Provide support and information about the campus resources and life at HKUST
  • Strengthen students'(both junior and senior) sense of belonging to RMBI
  • Enhance interpersonal skills from interaction with peers at social events
Alumni Mentorship

It enables alumni to share their professional, personal experience and expertise with current RMBI students and leave a lasting impact on RMBI Program community. The alumni mentors provide students with academic guidance as well as career and personal development advice for the academic year.

 

Support for acquiring Professional Qualifications

Support and sponsorship are provided through courses and workshops to enable students to acquire major professional qualifications, such as:

  • Financial Risk Manager (FRM)
  • Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA) examination

OR some other BI certificates:

  • IBM SPSS Statistics Level 1 v2
 

RMBI Subsidy Scheme

RMBI program exclusively offers RMBI Subsidy Scheme which aims at encouraging RMBI students with strong academic standing to better equip themselves for future career in Risk Management by obtaining professional qualifications from the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Examination and the Financial Risk Manager (FRM) Examination. Designated credential examinations for Business Intelligence area are also covered in the scholarship scheme.

Application Timeline

The application exercise of the scheme is processed in two batches. The deadlines for the two batches are as follows:
