  • MGMT faculty receive promotion: Dr. Prithviraj Chattopadhyay and Dr. Elizabeth George have been promoted to Full Professor; and Dr Bilian Sullivan has been substantiated and promoted to Associate Professor.

  • MGMT department ranks among Top Three in the world for 2009-2010: according to UT-Dallas survey of top business school research in terms of publications in five premier management journals (Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Administrative Science Quarterly, Organization Science, Strategic Management Journal).   • Department name change to Department of Management.  Effective from August 1, 2009, the official name of our department has been changed from “Department of Management of Organizations” (組織管理學系) to “Department of Management” (管理學系). In this connection, all courses offered by our department have been recorded with the “MGMT” prefix instead of “MGTO" starting from the fall semester in 2009.

  • The MGMT Department have won the first Franklin Department Award for Teaching Excellence for the Year 2007. The purpose of the award was to recognize the collective efforts made by a department's faculty in achieving overall teaching excellence.

  • Prof J.T. Li appointed as Associate Editor for Strategic Management Journal, a top-tier academic journal in strategy.

  • Prof Riki Takeuchi has won the 2010 Distinguished Early Career Contributions Award by Society for Industrial & organizational Psychology (SIOP). This award is given to an individual who has made distinguished contributions to the science and/or practice of I-O psychology within seven years of receiving the Ph.D. degree.   • Prof Riki Takeuchi and Prof Stephen Nason have been voted as the Best Ten Lecturers 2009. This is also three years in a roll that MGMT has 2-3 of the Best Ten Lecturers at HKUST.

  • Adjunct Professor - Dr. Po Chi Wu who is a highly successful international venture capitalist and entrepreneur. Formerly a partner at Advent International Corporation, a co-founder and President of Allegro Capital, and a senior executive of a few others capital and professional firms.

  • Visiting scholar - Dr. Mary Han who currently is Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship and Strategy at the Ted Rogers School of Management, Ryerson University's Faculty of Business.
