Postgraduates on research programs applying for student housing will be considered subject to availability. Due to great demand for on-campus housing, all new non-local RPg students admitted from 2008/2009 onward will be given priority in student accommodation during their normative period of study. The normative period for completing the PhD degree in full-time mode is four years after the first degree with a reduction of one year if a relevant master's degree is earned prior to entering the PhD program.

Postgraduate students are housed in two types of on campus postgraduate halls of residence. The residential hall is for single occupancy, the rental is around HK$1,700 (US$220) per month. Each self catering flat has four single rooms, a kitchen, bathroom facilities, and a sitting room. Monthly rental for a single room is around HK$3,000 (US$390).  There is no on-campus accommodation for married couples, with or without children.
