"UST offers far more than the perfect combination of western
and eastern education."
I applied to UST when I was on the Chinese Mainland teaching English
as part of my gap year. Being completely taken by the Chinese culture,
yet still craving some Western influence, I felt UST would be able
to satisfy my wish to learn more about Asia and its cultures, while
not being too alien from what I had been used to in the UK. Having
completed my first year, I now realise UST offers far more than
the perfect combination of western and eastern education - it
also gives students, professors, and alumni from all over the world
the opportunity to contribute to a truly international learning
environment.
I chose GBUS because of its enrichment programs. From its business
case competitions and international exchange programs, to its mentoring
schemes and internships, the GBUS program appealed to my belief
that there is more to University than the grades you leave with.
Of course there are times when studying has to take over your life
so you can get above mean in your looming exam, but when you do
have time to relax, the environment of UST, Hong Kong, and even
Asia, means you are on a constant learning curve, even when your
head isn’t buried in a book.
