[eNews] The Only Business School in Hong Kong Recognized for Social Impact and Sustainability

HKUST Business School is honored to be the only business school in Hong Kong recognized for its social impact and sustainability achievements in the latest “Positive Impact Rating” (PIR).

The 2021 edition of PIR was launched at the United Nations PRME Global Forum and featured HKUST as one of the few business schools that have advanced to level 4 (transforming schools) in the five-level rating. This reflects the robust results of our effort in driving socio-economic advancement and making the world a better place for all.

“We are committed to fostering business talent with the right mindset and knowledge to make a meaningful impact,” said Professor TAM Kar Yan, Dean of HKUST Business School. “The global pandemic underscores the importance of CSR, ESG, sustainability, and corporate ethics in our curriculum, research, and governance. It also opens a new avenue for our students to pursue positive missions and rethink how they can contribute to the broader community.”

The rating is based on assessments completed by 9,600 students located in 21 countries worldwide who assessed the social impact of their own schools. This recognition demonstrates our School’s embedded culture to drive positive impact with visible results and progress in many impact dimensions.

Special thanks go to student association oikos HK for coordinating the assessment and to all those who rated us. Find out more about PIR at www.positiveimpactrating.org/.
