NBER-EASE 2019 in Thailand

The CED sponsored one presenter (Edwin Lai, HKUST) and two discussants (Yao Amber Li and Yatang Lin, both from HKUST) to participate in the NBER-EASE 2019 held in Thailand on 6-7 June 2019. This year, the theme is "International Trade".



HKUST Conference on International Economics 2019

"HKUST Conference on International Economics" co-organized by CED and Department of Economics of HKUST was held on 3-4 June 2019. The theme of the conference is frontiers of research in international economics.



Asia-Pacific Trade Seminars 2018

The "Asia-Pacific Trade Seminars 2018" co-sponsored by CED and Department of Economics of HKUST, was held in HKUST on 29-30 June 2018. There were about 70 participants; 55 papers were presented with over 50 presenters from foreign universities.



Presentation at NBER-EASE 2018 in Seoul

CED supported one representative (Ying BAI, a HKUST PhD graduate teaching in CUHK) to present a paper in NBER-EASE in Seoul on 21-22 June, 2018. This year, the theme is "political economy". The NBER-EASE (National Bureau of Economic Research - East Asia Seminar on Economics) is an international conference held annually and is hosted by rotation. NBER is a prestigious organization based in the US that supports academic research.



Joint talk with IEMS on 20 April 2018

The CED co-organized a joint talk with Institute of Emerging Market Studies at HKUST by Professor Keith Maskus of University of Colorado at Boulder (former Chief Economist of the State Department, USA) titled "The United States Turns Inward" on 20 April 2018. It was held in Central. He also presented a research seminar titled "Intellectual Property-Related Trade Preferential Trade Agreements and the Composition of Trade" at the Department of Economics on the same day, which the CED also co-organized.
