[eNews] Connecting with the Global Kellogg-HKUST EMBA Alumni Community

In August, the Kellogg-HKUST EMBA community held a mini homecoming event to welcome alumni members across 21 graduating classes back to its classroom in Hong Kong. While everyone reminisced their student days, they also connected with other senior executives from different cohorts.

The classroom has not been this lively since early last year before COVID-19 broke out, and the alumni were pleasantly surprised by the facility and safety upgrades that we have implemented. Although the classroom seemed to look the same, the technology involved to cater to a hybrid learning model left them in awe.

Alumni participants were equally excited to attend courses on two significant topics – “Leading the Sustainable Enterprise” with Ms Pamela MAR and “Achieving Authentic Leadership” with Dr Mitya NEW. Other alumni members from the region also dialed in to participate in these rigorous discussions and beat the summer heat. Additionally, many participants shared new business ideas throughout the courses and sparked several lively and insightful discussions.

On the other side of the world, four of our US-based students took part in the annual Kellogg Global Network Week in Chicago despite travel restrictions. Although the scale of the event had to be downsized due to COVID-19, the quality of the experience was by no means diminished. After studying together virtually for months, the students finally met each other in person for the first time!

Our students also fondly recalled the moment they met each other like meeting old friends that they had not seen in a long time. They have developed a close bond even though they have only known each other through a screen!
