Panel Discussion on Challenges Facing Competition Policy in Hong Kong and Asia

This is a panel discussion on challenges facing competition policy in Hong Kong and Asia. The event is a launch event for the newly established Center for Economic Policy (CEP).

The Center has two programs on Antitrust and Competition Policy and Development Economics Action Research (DEAR).

SPEAKERS:

MS ANNA WU HUNG-YUK GBS, JP
FOUNDING CHAIR, HONG KONG COMPETITION COMMISSION
Ms. Anna Wu is a lawyer admitted to the Law Society’s Roll of Honour. As founding chair of the Commission, she led the preparatory and first phase of its operation. She laid the foundation of the Commission and helped build its credibility in the international community. During her tenure, the Commission established important judicial and industry precedents and won many awards for its strong advocacy programme.

PROF.REIKO AOKI
COMMISSIONER, JAPAN FAIR TRADE COMMISSION
Professor Reiko Aoki is Professor Emeritus of Hitotsubashi Univesrity. She has conducted research and published on economics of patents, patent pools, standards, innovation and intergenerational political economy in academic journals such as Journal of Economics & Management Strategy and American Economic Review.

PROF.GUOFU TAN
PROFESSOR, UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
Professor Tan's research fields are industrial organization, antitrust economics, auction theory, anti-monopoly law, and microeconomics. Previously, Professor Tan held the T.D. MacDonald Chair in Industrial Economics at the Canadian Competition Bureau. As a consultant, he has provided advice to public- and private-sector clients with respect to competition and regulatory matters in numerous industries.
